Sochi is a town occupying 3500 square meters' area, located in a narrow zone between the main Caucasian crest and the Black sea. The resort is 145 km long. The terrain is rich in landscapes: there are downy foothills, seaside hollows, mountain peaks, and rocky ravines. Due to mountains around that reach 2500-3000 meters above sea level, Sochi has a humid subtropical climate unique for Russia. Sochi forests occupy up to 80% of the resort area. Evergreen bushes, Caucasian ancient fir trees, oak and beech groves, spicy odor of magnolias, medlars and Japanese camellias...

In the center of the city there is a relic yew & box grove with trees aged over 700-800 years. Breathing is easy in Sochi, because the seaside parks make a natural inhaler. The air is enriched with iodine, oxygen, and strongly ionized.

Over 300 natural mineral springs are located there. Matsesta, a sulfate chloride sodium spring, is recognized globally. It comprises hydrogen sulphide, iodine, bromine, fluorine, and colloid sulphur. Within city health centers, Matsesta waters are used in full and cabinet bath, inhalation, ablution, and shower.

Sochi has over 100 health centers: sanatoriums, hotels with medical cure, therapeutic suites. All resorts are divided into climatological, balneological, and mudtherapeutic. Mud treatment in Sochi has over 50 years of history.

Thanks to its geographical location – surrounded by the mountains (2.500-3.300 m) – there has formed a unique for Russia wet subtropical climate. Wood meadows of Sochi occupy up to 80% of the whole its area: fir trees, oak- and beech-woods, magnolias, loquats, camellias, etc.

In the centre of the city one can find yew-woods the trees of which are 700-800 years old. Seaside- and woods-areas enrich air with iodine, nitrogen, oxygen and ionize it.
